Seismic Performance of LRS-FRP–Concrete–Steel Tubular Double Coupling Beam

To improve the ductility and seismic performance of a double coupling beam, authors applied polyethylene terephthalate (PET) sheet steel tube to form fiber-reinforced polymer (FRP)–concrete–steel double-skin tubular (DST) composite beams. A low-cyclic reversed experimental program was carried out which factored in member form, diameter, construction methods. The results indicate that energy dissipation beams—whether wrapped with PET-FRP or surrounded by an FRP–concrete–steel DST system—is substantial improvement over traditional reinforced-concrete beam (RC-DCB). coefficient accumulated DST-DCB members improved above 170% 2300%, respectively. These percentages compare RC-DCB are based on rupture sheet. similar those large strain (LRS-DCB). Meanwhile, external does not affect initial stiffness peak strength RC-DCB. Relatively, inner will stiffness, yielding strength, strength. still have considerable deformability after 85% since provided effective constraint effect core concrete could bear excellent shear deformation.
